The Life of a Bird

Dad noticed a bird's nest with eggs in it. The next day Samson was barking at the tree so much that dad lifted me up to check it out. There were 3 baby birds in the nest!!

I named the mother Silver and the babies Tweetie, Amber and Rob. I loved watching them grow. I thought it was really nice of God to have the robin put the nest so low to the ground for me to enjoy.

We were not able to get pictures of the birds for several days. When we finally did we were surprised to see how much they had changed. They had all their feathers! The reason my mom didn't take any picures is because we were walking to the park (across the street from us) and a bird swooped down at her. It didn't hit her with it's body but it fluttered it's wings right at her head. She walked a little further and it did it again! Then it did it to Hannah (who was walking a little behind my mom). About 30 minutes later, I walked nearby the tree to see if I could see the bird and it swooped at me - right at my face!! It was SCARY!! After that, my mom was too scared to be near a bird. She told me that even before this she was kind of scared of them (something about a movie she watched long ago about birds). I didn't want to take the picture either because I was kind of scared that Silver would do the same thing to us and also afraid of dropping mom's nice camera. Hannah has been scared of birds ever since (and anything that flies like bees, flies, mosquitos, butterflies etc). I feel bad for her. When we realized (after trying to take the pictures several days in a row) that we were never going to get the picture we asked dad to take it and he did. Silver sat right nearby and made alot of noise and even flew near him once but never swooped at him.

We saw them for a couple days flying real low to the ground and now they fly perfectly. I took this first picture and mom took the second. When the bird (Amber) was on the branch it was not scared of me at all. It didn't move while I took the picture and I even touched it and it didn't fly away. I loved the little baby birds and watching them grow up. I wish they didn't grow so fast though.
